India the Next Focus for EV Manufacturing

This new discovery is a promising step in the Asian country’s EV journey that seemed to be overwhelmed by longstanding problems before 2017. It is unclear whether adopting electrified transportation upon India’s roads will be achievable this year. The query was partly due to inefficiently distributed charging facilities and a lack of market diversity for electric cars not to state frequented higher prices and technology.

During the previous two years, the Indian EV industry has experienced essential strides towards solving these obstacles. However, there are a rising number of concerns over the number of electric cars designed to operate at an equal distance to the advertised quantity from their ICE counterparts. The number has dramatically improved with the rise in the number of EV charging ports installed in major towns.

The government has integrated several FAME II incentives reserved for EV vehicles amounting to three lakhs for industrial purposes. In addition, the Indian government announced a willingness to push the wave in electric vehicle construction in the region. The country’s plans to start with a single charging station with a view of getting at least 60,000 pumps. The Department of Heavy industry has a plan to provide Rs. 1000 crore for building charging facilities throughout the region. By extension, India’s Tata Power enacted a plan to install 180 functional charging points in 20 cities. However, the progress should be ramped up to 700 by March of next year.

Experts relate that India has a lot of untapped potential as an EV market for manufacturers. Likewise, the country’s massive population places it as a hotbed for electric vehicle sales being converted from internal combustion engine vehicles. However, India’s focus relies on balancing electric vehicles and electric bikes to serve the market’s needs.
